Presidents' Day research for Microsoft Word
Sally Hemings WebQuest
This WebQuest takes the students to the official website of Thomas Jefferson and Monticello to learn about his enslaved mistress and father of six of his children, Sally Hemings. Students go through the webpage, read the articles, and watch the videos to learn about her life, their relation ship, and her family. Students are then asked if their thoughts on the author of Declaration of Independence ("All men are created equal) and 3rd president of the United States.

All About Our Presidents
This is a unit based around centers and inquiry learning for second graders. Students engage in different centers including reading, writing prompts, and games several times a week. Students also learn through video resources and student/teacher read alouds. Students will also participate in a presidential wax museum as the culminating piece of the unit. This inquiry learning may seem simple and easy, but it is one of the greatest ways to get all students engaged at their own learning pace.
