I used this book report after introducing informational texts to my students. I had them split into groups and use non-fiction books to study each of the animals. They had to first learn about it themselves, and then introduce the animal to a peer. It was a great way to encourage presentations as well.

1.Picking an animal to research and then writing about that animal with a guided research page.
2. Writing a short story with the animal a key player in the story and using a plot plan to develop their story.
3. Writing an "About the AUTHOR" - which is a page or two about themselves as the author of this project
