Area of Composite Figures Mini Project
Have students dissect composite shapes and find area using formulas for familiar shapes. Nets, Volume, & Surface Area Project
Students will find the volume of a real life rectangular prism (cereal box, tissue box, pasta box, etc). They then will break the box down and show it's net and surface area of each of the faces. The accompanying pages guide the student through this and provides a work area to name the measurements and find the volume and surface area. It is still testing students on the standards that my test is currently aligned, however; it gives students who are nervous test takers a different option.
