I needed something simple to cover our Pre-K standard about community helpers, so I came up with this super easy game that covers math (sorting), Social Studies (community helpers), and Language Arts (speaking, vocabulary)! Students will match the tools to the community helper that uses it. If you want to extend the lesson, ask the students what the helper does with that tool. This is a great tool for small group or one-on-one lessons.

I use this bingo board often in my class. I printed a class set on bright colored card stock then laminated them so students can use them over and over with dry erase markers. This is an easy and fun way to add an activity to your lesson. A simple way to use it, is to have students complete a work sheet and then put their answers on the board. Synonym, antonym, prefix, suffix worksheet game
The cross out game asks students to use their vocabulary skills to cross out words from a list, leaving them with a saying. The first group or person to discover the saying is the winner. Students are asked to cross out words with specific affixes, and to find synonyms and antonyms. They are also asked to cross out nouns, adjectives, etc.
I like to have to these worksheets handy for students that complete their work quickly. They require no pieces or parts! All you need is a pencil.

I use this first day of school activity to get to know the students and get them started with mathmatical thinking on our first day together. The students complete the worksheet, adding up all the numbers at the end, then as a class we order the totals and assign special names to each student based on their order. It isn't age specific, but I find that my Middle School students were very engaged by the process.
