Adding Decimals Diner Menu and Placemat
Help your students add and subtract decimals in a fun activity, suitable for math centres! I had students choose which menu items they would like to order. Then they would add up the amount they had to pay. A placemat is given to do work.To make it more difficult: I had students pay with fake money and calculate the change they would be given.Some were also tasked with calculating the tax.

Whack-A-Mole Percentages
My students LOVE this game!!!
In this super exciting game, students create individual bingo game boards (answers are posted and the students copy them in any order on their bingo boards). Then, students take turns coming up to the Smartboard and "whacking" a mole. When a mole is "whacked," it brings up a long division problem. You can use this Smart Notebook activity to help students with the decimal understanding. I have used this activity for several years with great results. It is based on the use of Base Ten blocks to model decimals and demonstrate the relationships between whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
