I used this rubric for my students when they created non-fiction books about the Native American Tribes. Students folded 3-4 sheets of white paper in half, bound it with staples, and then filled it in with the required content. This project incorporated our social studies content while reinforcing writing skills and identifying, using, and creating text features. This is a program to encourage kids to set goals to score higher on MAPs tests. Using the goal setting sheets on the MAPs website, set the expected growth goal for each individual student, and collective school score (add up all growth goal numbers for the team approach). Post these everywhere. Tell the student they are competing with themselves, with the other classrooms, and together as a school to get the best scores.
