Parts of a Seed
Use this page to teach students the parts of a seed. Soak fresh seeds (We used lima beans) in water until they absorb water, the seed coat starts to come off, and they start to split open. Should take several hours. Students will each get their own seed and will be able to identify each part on their seed. They will tape each part of their seed to the bottom of their paper.

Modified Physical and Chemical Change Cut and Paste; Special Ed
This is a 2-page worksheet for students in an inclusive science class learning about the physical and chemical changes. I used this for my 6th grade students who learn at about a first grade level.
The worksheet has two columns on the first page. One is labeled physical reactions and the other is labeled chemical reactions. There are six reactions on the second page. Students are to cut these reactions (with picture clues) out and paste them in the correct column of the chart on the first page

Water Filter Experiment- packet
This experiment is great for understanding water filtration. We use 2 liter bottles with the bottom cut off. Students preplan in their groups what materials to use and how to place them in the upsidedown 2 liter. Once the prepare their "filtration system", I pour dirty water in and we collect it (glass baby food jars work great because you can see inside) out of the small opening at the bottom. What is that smell? Testing students' sense of smell
Use this science activity for students to discover their sense of smell! Place a cotton ball into five different small tupperware containers. Choose four different strong smelling liquids, such as vinegar, lemon juice, vanilla, peppermint, etc, and pour a little bit onto each cotton ball.
