I am going on 16 years of teaching kindergarten. I have been working very closely with my district with the transition to common core. I have facilitated trainings to all kindergarten teachers in the district in regards to teaching common core aligned lessons. My emphasis is in common core foundational skills, common core language standards and guided reading. I have also trained teachers outside my district with the implementation of common core in kindergarten. I feel so grateful for the opportunities I've had to share my passion. I was honored when my district chose to implement my kindergarten reading program district wide.
My teaching style is guided by instructional strategies that help students make meaning. I always adjust my teaching based on my students' learning behaviors. I believe the learning environment must be efficient and highly structured. I have found students to be more successful when they know what to expect. Most importantly, children need to feel that they matter and that they are loved. That is the only way you will get a child to function at its fullest potential!
