I've been teaching high school history classes for over 15 years, and A.P. United States History (APUSH) for over 10 years. My students consistently perform 20%-30% above the national average each year on the AP U.S. History Exam.
History should come to life! Students need to be able to read, think, and write like a historian. My lessons focus on critical thinking and historical analysis skills. I also emphasize the story element of history and making connections to the modern world, which helps personalize and humanize the past.
Do copious history gifts and Doctor Who drawings from my students count?
