I have a total of 41 years teaching experience in Australian schools. During this time I have worked in both high schools and primary schools. I have qualifications that have allowed me to work with students with learning difficulties, and gifted and talented students. Recent qualifications have allowed me to work with refugee children who are aged from 7-10 years old.
Students learn at their own rate. Students should experience success in their daily learning and be rewarded both intrinsically and extrinsically. Experiences need a challenging learning environment where they are not afraid to 'have a go'. Tasks need to be related to real life experiences. Students develop self-motivation and self-regulation to promote ownership of learning. I use an abundance of inquiry-based, hands-on and cross-curricular activities. I try to find my student's unique interests and incorporate them into my learning sessions.
