TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have over 40 years as an educator, working with students grades K-7. (not done yet! I'm tutoring little readers, and loving it!) Taught music, grade 2, 3, 4, 6 as a generalist, as well as worked as a teacher librarian. Have been published, and continue to publish resources for literacy skill development. I worked with curriculum design and development at local and provincial level for five years, and there learned so much more about lesson and unit design. I have also worked at the university level as a student teacher field services facilitator. I recently retired from a K-9 charter school, where I mentored teachers in lesson design, classroom management, literacy skill integration across the curriculum as well as developed an assessment approach. This approach enabled teachers to be more intentional about their classroom delivery to ensure struggling students would get the support needed for success in their learning. Since 1978, I have led workshops for teachers and home schooling parents throughout Canada, the US and Singapore. I continue to work with children wherever I can, because once a teachers, always a teacher!
