TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm Laine, an Autistic Transition Specialist with 15 years of experience in the Accessible / Special Education field. I focus on creating materials for BUSY teachers who want differentiated, low to no prep lessons and activities. Being neurodivergent, I also enjoy using my personal and professional experience to create Neurodiversity and Disability Awareness materials for students and professionals of any age/level.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I create neurodiversity-affirming activities and lessons that students can repeat in order to hone their skills! I like to create materials in at least 3 levels, to support differentiation. My classes are social-based and I encourage students to participate during class like they are having a conversation with me. I always include built-in "checking for understanding" questions, new vocab, preview, review, class practice, models, and then individual practice throughout my lessons.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I co-founded a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, teaching neurodivergent adults the communication, social, and musical skills necessary to play in rock bands together. The MUSE Foundation was absorbed by a larger non-profit a few years ago and continues on!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor's in Psychology I Master’s in Special Education (Significant Needs, Autism and Behavior) I Master's Level Transition Endorsement

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Teaching life skills and vocational skills to students as they prepare to transition into adulthood is a joy. I differentiate all my curriculum so it can serve people across all ability and age ranges :) www.TransitionAbilities.com
