TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught for 30+ years in 4th through 8th grade. For the last dozen years of my employment, I was a lead teacher with responsibility for Gifted and Talented Curriculum, English Language Arts, and Social Studies. I also taught university classes for teachers preparing for National Board Certification. Now, in retirement, I supervise student teachers and consult for a textbook company.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I place a heavy emphasis on students working at the higher levels of thinking. Students need to be actively pursuing questions, making connections, and feeling the rush of discovery. I try to produce tasks and support for those tasks that will allow students to do that.
