I started my teaching journey with 3 years as a full time sub in a large school district where I spent time in 60 different schools subbing for K-12. After getting my teaching license, I worked for a year as a computer teacher in a K-4 computer lab. I've spent 10 years teaching 4th-8th grades. Specialties: ed tech, social studies, reading, and fun I teach tweens. They are funny, weird, and eager to learn, yet they can wipe their own noses and take criticism without crying (most of the time). Before becoming a teacher, I worked a plethora of odd jobs. I also subbed for a few years to figure out where I fit in best. I'm an avid traveler and comic book lover. I've been called quirky and bizarre.
Likes: noisy, active classrooms, writer's notebooks, school newspapers, *exciting* powerpoint shows, note takers, project based learning, research projects, teaching politeness Dislikes: boring people, when it's too quiet, know it alls *you know who I am talking about!*
I've been called *the best teacher ever* by at least a dozen kids. Does that count?
Most recently I've earned my credential to teach Library k-12 I have a B.S. in Finance from Minnesota State University. I went to graduate school at Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village for a Masters in Teaching! Yay!
I have an awesome husband, a cool step daughter and two rambunctious chocolate lab dogs (named after Star Wars' characters). I am a native Nevadan. Battle Born! Grrrrrr. Likes: Banana Laffy Taffy, converse shoes, pirate stuff, The Goonies, Ahoy!, overcast days, Batman, LDS bloggers (I'm not LDS: I just love reading their happy vibes), and all natural stuff. Dislikes: alarm clocks, malls, tanning booths, wasps, jeggings and the kinds of ziplock bags that you have to press to keep closed. I prefer the zipper at the top kind.
