I have 7 years of certified teaching experience in the public school system. My experience is mostly in working with students from high poverty backgrounds and English Language Learners, but I have also enjoyed working with gifted students, and students with disabilities. My experience in working with this exceptional population has caused me to hone in my expertise and skills to best suit the needs of individual learners. I want to create the biggest impact in the shortest amount of time. I also have a history of working with students with specials needs on the Pre-K level.
While educating professionally for 6 years, I have committed myself and my students to high achieving standards of success regardless of financial status, ability, or race. My philosophy of education involves setting high expectations for all students, engaging students through real world experiences, and customizing lesson objectives and goals to maximize student achievement upon various developmental levels. While academics are important, I view my role as a ministry opportunity. My heart desires to reach students at the deepest level, which involves knowing who they are in spirit and shaping their hearts and minds toward excellent character, which does not reflect a “one-size-fits-all” method. Leading by example and working through their personal life challenges and experiences allow for opportunities for students to grow and flourish. I believe that no opportunity is to too small for a learning experience. I am a creative thinker and problem solver whose methods reflect an “out of the box” teaching style. I am flexible and “in tune" to the needs and understandings of students. I enjoy making learning both fun and meaningful.
