TEACHING EXPERIENCE

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach Spanish with TPRS®, in which students learn new vocabulary and grammar through stories. My goal is to make the stories in my class as engaging as possible. I use props, costumes, student actors, and pictures to capture my students' interest and help them acquire new vocabulary and grammar structures. I have taught at public, private, and charter schools and have found that TPRS® works for students of all ages and backgrounds. When I am planning my lessons, I think of Stephen Krashen's observation: “Language acquisition proceeds best when the input is not just comprehensible, but really interesting, even compelling; so interesting that you forget you are listening to or reading another language.”
