I am forever a student and LOVE learning! Thus, the two degrees 1. Master in Communication Sciences and Disorders 2. Bachelor in Early Childhood Education
I am a certified English teacher, having earned the CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in 2018. As part of that program, I designed and taught lessons for students of all ages and abilities, targeting receptive and expressive skills as well as accurate pronunciation. I have experience building speech therapy programs from the ground up for schools that had no prior speech program. This involved developing a "Response to Intervention Program" as well as creating and implementing teacher seminars to help educate staff about speech and language norms and red flags that indicate a need for a speech and language referral. Collaborating with other professionals is something I not only LOVE to do but I think it's vital for our students' performance. I have co-taught a special education classroom with students of various ages and diagnoses (including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disability) and introduced a Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) to help non-verbal children communicate. I have also worked closely with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapists, psychologists, and learning support professionals with the goal of the speech and language skills learned in the therapy room carrying over into the child's home and school environment.
