I worked 5 years at a private school which consisted mostly of students with Dyslexia. I am now in my 19th year of teaching public school. I became a teacher after raising 5 children, some of which had learning problems.
I strive to help the students learn for themselves. I want my students to embrace how fun learning is. If I can overcome their hesitancy and fear, then 80% of the battle is won. All of us have to be unafraid to fail. Trying and failing is better than doing nothing.

I'm in my 60s with 5 grown children and 15 grandchildren. I am a life-long learner and so is my husband. He became an RN at the age of 40. I became a 'real' teacher the same year I turned 50. Several of my children have learning problems and this led me to an interest in education. So after obtaining a degree in Radio/TV/Film in 1986, I went back to school and began teaching in 1999 at a private school and as an intern. In 2008 I finished my teaching certificate for Secondary Math. I also have published 3 books!
