I grew up in a musical family. I was fortunate to learn to play a little bit of piano, a little bit of flute, and a little bit of ukulele. I love making up songs about anything that is making me happy at that moment. My excitement about math and enthusiasm for teaching it has inspired lyrics to many songs I now use in my classroom to supplement or reinforce instruction. Before I began teaching in public schools, I owned and operated a day care/preschool. I loved singing and dancing to all the children's classics with my little toddlers and preschoolers. I could see how much music impacted their foundation skills in reading, math, and social/emotional development. I have found music to be equally valuable to the intermediate students as well.
My teaching style boils down to this simple rule: Make learning FUN!
