I began my teaching career in the high school level teaching grades 9-12 including inclusion classes(mainstreamed) and honors classes. I also taught a remedial reading class called Foundations of English to 9th graders. I taught in the high school for 6 years. I am currently a reading specialist in an elementary school servicing students through the RTI tiers in grades K-4. This is my second year as the building reading specialist.
I am a hands on teacher. In my class we enjoy sorting, moving about and playing educational games. There is structure to each of my sessions and my 3rd and 4th graders are working on test taking strategies, academic vocabulary and root words as well to help pass their Reading SOL (Virginia)
