By The Learning Attic Hello everyone! My name is Karen and I am the founder and creator of "The Learning Attic" an online educational resource company. My company's mission statement is simple: to provide educators with high quality learning materials which engages and inspires student learning. I am passionate about creating unique educational resources that enhance instruction and meet the needs of all students. Together, we can make a positive difference in the lives of our students by providing the highest quality educational materials. The foundation for starting up "The Learning Attic" comes from working as an Elementary Teacher for more than a decade. My classroom experiences have been varied (Kindergarten all the way to Grade 8) and ranged from full time, part-time and occasional positions.
I enjoy nurturing co-operative, hands-on learning opportunities, centred around students interests and abilities. I encourage my students to create knowledge and meaning from their own unique learning experiences. I also implement a lot of problem solving opportunities, especially in mathematics. Overall, I would define my role in the classroom as the "Guide on the Side" .
