ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My grandmother, who was also a lifetime teacher, always had high expectations of me. I have always looked up to her, one could say almost venerated her as a role model for how to live, as her life and career were in many ways high-flown, inspiring, and always positive-minded. Whenever I attended her funeral back in January of 2015, I was not at all surprised to be greeted by almost a dozen of her former students of forty-to-sixty years ago who professed their admiration of her as a teacher. She greatly influenced my thinking in terms of how I have always sought to live life to the fullest, to believe in my own cleverness and ingenuity, and to keep a good sense of humor about myself even when faced with seeming failures.
