TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I began my career in the middle school setting. I loved working with young secondary students, but after three years I moved into high school where I've taught for eight years. - - - Presently I teach: ~Child Development I (pregnancy - age 3) ~Child Development II (our preschool program for children ages 3-5) ~Pathways to Careers in Teaching (a cadet teaching course) ~Senior FACS (a catch all of FACS topics seniors need most) ~FACS Internship (for students who work in a FACS related field) - - - - I am also an Adjunct Professor at Central Missouri State University, - - - I am the head teacher in our school's Child Development Center and am proud to say that I had the pleasure of creating that program in our building.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My focus is always on the relationships I build with my students. My classroom is a mix of technology and hands-on assignments geared toward helping students see the real world, career focus of the content.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I've had the honor of being recognized by Varsity Basketball and Dance students as an influential faculty member. **Homecoming 2017's Most Spirited Teacher** Awarded two Education Foundation grants totaling $2,000

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

My undergraduate degree is from the University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou) and my master's degree is from Missouri Baptist University. - - - - I am also Google Certified Educator.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

When I'm not teaching, I love to read, ride my bicycle, practice yoga, sew, and do my best to master Pinterest crafts. * * * My husband teaches 6th-grade geography and my daughter will begin kindergarten in the 18-19 school year. * * * We recently rescued two Chihuahua-Terrier mix puppies who keep us on our toes during the day and snuggled warmly in the evening.
