I have taught high school psychology, current events and film production, AP Government, 5th Grade Early American Studies, 6th grade Minnesota Studies, 7th Grade US Studies, 9th Grade Civics, and 11th Grade U.S. History and A.P. U.S. History. During the summer of 2014, I also spent six weeks teaching English in Japan and absolutely loved it! I currently spend my summers working as an interpreter at a 19th century historic site.
My teaching style is reflective of the constructivist pedagogical theory. My lessons are all centered around students actively investigating, questioning, and synthesizing primary sources and materials. In my class, students are always thinking, wondering, reflecting, and doing!
Yet to be added
I have a Bachelors of Science in Broad Field Social Studies - History Emphasis with a minor in Spanish, and a Masters in American History.
I love the outdoors! You'll often find me out playing tennis, biking, on runs, backpacking in the woods, and of course playing hockey on our frozen ponds! Naturally, I am an avid reader and book collector, and enjoy combing through my shelves for stories and situations from history to bring into the classroom.
