I was in the classroom as a middle school teacher for two years, during which time I taught Social Studies, English, and Digital Arts. For the past two years, I have worked at an after school arts program that provides arts and academic classes to 3rd-12th graders.
My teaching style involves a lot of visual aids, call and response, and hands on and PBL. I like my classroom to be energetic with a purpose. I do not think young students (or most of us) learn by simply listening to someone hour on end. With this in mind, I create worksheets and resources that cement foundational knowledge, inspire and guide discussion, and promote further questioning of the subject matter at hand.
I received the award for PBIS and Activity Leadership at my middle school two years ago. While in that position I did things such as facilitating a student led art club, establishing a yearbook committee, producing the school's first yearbook, and piloting a young girls empowerment group.
I have received a BA from North Carolina State University in Film and Art & Design, received education training and a teaching license through Teach for America, and am currently pursuing an MS at Delta State University in Community Development.
As a teacher, I craved exciting and helpful resources that I did not have time to make. As an entrepreneur, I want to offer the resources I wish I had had.
