TEACHING EXPERIENCE

MY TEACHING STYLE

The Classroom Fairy Godmother brings you 16+ years of school teaching experience to save you time in your classroom! Everything I've created for you has been at use in my classroom! Rest assured it's been kid-tested and approved! I believe in developing discovery, independence and teaching students to think on their own, think through their actions and develop an awareness of good choices. My hope for the students is to develop a strong desire to continue learning, far beyond their foundations in Kindergarten. My work featured here on Teachers Pay Teachers reflects that and the need to differentiate for all students as well as how to keep it creative, exciting and accessible for both you and your students. ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Learning by doing is the major philosophical thrust of my Kindergarten program. I believe in a developmental approach in which a child learns at his/her own pace. The development of the multi-modal child, combining academic, social, emotional, physical and artistic enrichment is my goal. Children learn when they are ready and receptive and they come into this world with a natural passion for learning. Young children explore the world with excitement and wonder. They question, explore, invent and imagine. I do not expect that the same progress will take place for each child at the same time. By offering a meaning-based integrated curriculum, I will create an environment conducive to joyful yet critical thinking. Planning interdisciplinary themes and units offers the children an opportunity to learn information, understand it and apply it to new situations. They will be able to analyze and understand relationships, create something new, and reflect on what they have done. Learning becomes an ongoing process rather than a product. Children have a burning passion for learning that guides them on the expedition of life from infancy into toddlerhood and eventually into the school-age years. This passion, which shines so vividly in the eyes and hearts of our children, should not become dim when a child begins formal schooling. I believe whole-heartedly that my primary responsibility as a teacher is to foster in children a love for learning itself. I want to produce life long learners who love to learn and know the joy of discovery. I strive to create an environment that immerses the children in the world about which we are learning. I work to build spaces for learning, exploration and discovery; places where they love to be and don't want to leave. I want my classroom to offer compelling invitations to learn. As a teacher I am opening doors to a vast world full of wonder, and one in which we are learning to protect. Each child will be encouraged to grow optimally as an individual as well as a participating group member. We will constantly strive to generate respect for others and self-respect. With this formula of experiences, children will observe, imitate, listen, pretend, dream, make choices, experiment, discuss, perform, interact with others, and enjoy the learning process. "Teaching is not about filling a bucket, but about lighting a fire." William Butler Yates
