The Choir Bee

I am starting my 25th year of teaching elementary music. I am Orff level 1 certified. Currently, I teach grades 1-5, which includes a volunteer choir of fabulous 4th and 5th grade students. I use Kodaly and Orff methodologies in my music room.

I encourage student leadership in my lessons and classroom environment. Once a new concept has been introduced, nothing pleases me more than when my students work collaboratively, create something from what we learned, and help each other out when needed. Game playing is a fabulous way to hone skills and I use technology daily as a tool to add to what I do in the music classroom. Check out my SMARTboard products.

One of my favorite things to do is to create new activities and games for my students. I'm a big kid myself, so if it doesn't interest me, I know it won't interest them. Despite the changes in education, I am blessed to have chosen a profession which I truly love. I am an animal lover! I also love to laugh, spend time with friends, travel, cook, and spend quality time with my wonderful husband.
