TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am an educator with 18 years + experience. I have taught grades ranging from PreK through 3rd. I taught in kindergarten for 8 years and in first for 7 years in a school that approximately 65% students are ELLs (English Language Learners) or come from homes that speak another language other than English. My expertise is in Bilingual, ESL, and Basic Skills. I have created multiple resources that have helped my students be successful in the classroom and I would like to share these with other educators.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is a mixture of coaching and facilitating. I promote self learning and critical thinking skills, while modeling with set expectations for students to follow. I believe students can learn hands-on and with multiple intelligences while working independently or with peers to solve problems.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I received NJ Governors Educator of the Year Award in 2018. I also was selected in NJ Front Runner, one of the top 30 under 40 African American Leaders in South Jersey in 2023.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I earned a Bachelor's of Art Degree in Spanish. Certified in Elementary K-5, Spanish K-12, Bilingual and ESL Endorsement. Earned a Masters Degree in Principal Leadership with a Supervisory Certificate as well.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am an educator and a community leader as well. I run a non-profit called the Right To Unite Organization, in which it hosts multiple free events for the kids and families in my community. In addition, my husband and I enjoy traveling and learning about different customs and cultures around the world. By these experiences, I have learned first- hand how it feels to enter a country that is unfamiliar to me and try to connect with other individuals in another language. As a result, I can empathize and relate to my students more and I would like to offer my resources to other educators who are in same shoes as I am.
