By The Amoeba People The Amoeba People are a science rock band led by elementary school teacher Ray Hedgpeth (20 years of classroom experience). We make music, videos and lessons that we hope will bring joy to the science classroom.
Music is at the core of how we approach science. It's awesome to see kids talking about Ptolemy, Galileo, and Copernicus as if they were modern celebrities.
The Amoeba People have shared the stage with Bill Nye the Science Guy and the Planetary Society, performed at PBS SoCal's TED Talks: Education Revolution, and are the Official House Band of the Columbia Memorial Space Center, the only post of its kind in the country. Our music videos have been played in classrooms on every continent except Antarctica (we're working on it!).
