Wanted to make flash cards for the exact values of the trig functions and the needed formulas, but once I sat down to get started... it seemed a bit overwhelming. So many different formulas, so many different directions to know the information in.

I've been teaching Geometry for 20+ years and have always found that students try to rely too heavily on visualization to complete geometry tasks. When teaching students about the family of quadrilaterals it is very easy for them to pick out scale

For my IEP students this set of guidelines is very useful. It helps them stay organized when they are setting up their descriptions of transformed functions. It also aids them in knowing which transformations they should perform first to end up

So many times I hear from students that they memorized the unit circle, it's radian & exact values at each special angle measure, much like I did when I was in school. If we had only known.... It's so much easier to remember when you can put it

A friend got me hooked... gave me one little program, I started reading the manual to figure out how to do more with programs. It's great for students who have an interest in programming, also for students who get done fast or want something more

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I started teaching in the 1996-1997 school year at a rural school in east central Ohio. While there, I taught business math, elementary algebra 1 & 2, and geometry. I came to my current school in the 1999-2000, started with calculus, pre-calc, trigonometry and algebra 1. over the years I've changed the math classes I've taught, even threw in a few middle school reading classes along the way. Math is my absolute favorite. I currently teach geometry, integrated 3, and algebra 3. No matter what I've been teaching, I've loved it.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I started in the era of lecture and example. I wish I could say that I've got the project performance thing completed nailed, but I don't. I keep trying, but I'm never quite satisfied with my work so I'm always try to improve on it.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

None of my honors/awards came with evidence, really. I was asked by the senior class of 2007 to be the graduation speaker, I am facebook friends with a lot of my former students who still ask me for help now and then, Had the privilege of working with some of the best math educators in the country through a local college.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Ohio Northern University, Wright State Lake Campus, Bluffton University

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
