TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Before becoming a teacher, I worked for several years as a before and after school mentor and site director. I have instructed at college preparatory middle schools in Los Angeles for the last three years, and these experiences have certainly focused my vision as a lifelong educator.

MY TEACHING STYLE

For me, the foundations of education are established upon high expectations, dedication, and support through several teaching modalities. I strive to invite my students into projects that access and demonstrate their critical and visual thinking skills. I identify with any teacher that has experienced strong rapport with their students through flexible homogeneous grouping and reciprocal teaching. These special bonds encourage invaluable family partnerships that serve to strengthen the school and community. My personal experiences with youths have taught me the importance of building positive relationships, engaging students, and teaching the whole person. In 2013 I piloted a blended learning model and have been hooked ever since. My students take an "entry ticket" every day that drives their instruction for that day.
