TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching since 2009 at a Middle School of 5th, 6th and 7th graders. I've worked with newborns-5th graders in college while working in an amazing daycare.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is all about thinking outside the box. I love incorporating different ideas and subjects into my teaching. My students learn through games, modern day content (of which they can relate to), and creative aspects on any "typical" lesson. My heart is about creating community in my classrooms and showing the students to love themselves during these middle school years.

National Board Teacher 2018

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Arkansas Tech University in 2009 with a Music Education Degree (Instrumental). I was hired as a Middle School Band Director along with the responsibilities of teaching General Music for 6th and 7th graders. I went back to school part-time (while teaching) and received a Master's in Special Education to help improve my teaching in the classroom. I have been a National Board Teacher since 2018. I have presented many workshops/professional developments on Technology within the classroom. I've presented at my school district, Arkansas Universities, ASBOA All-State Conference, and Arkansas Bandmaster's Association. I have presented at NAfME about how to utilize iMovie (or video editing) in the classroom to promote creativity in a music class setting.
