I taught in the Mobile County Public Schools in Alabama for 26 years in both elementary and middle schools. I have been both a general ed teacher and a SPED teacher. I currently work as a resource teacher in a juvenile detention center and work with students in grades 6-12 in all core subject areas.
I see each of my students as an individual with their own unique abilities and challenges. My philosophy is to treat them each as I would want my own grandchildren to be treated and to encourage them to become lifelong learners.
I was privileged to be the Alba Middle School Teacher of the Year 2004. I was also chosen as a featured teacher in Alabama's Statewide School Improvement Grant Video about Models of Collaboration which were used for professional development programs statewide and also regionally. As part of that project, I was asked to be a presenter on Models of Collaboration at the Alabama State Mega Conference in 2005. My greatest honor, however, was becoming a single adoptive mother to two precious boys who are now grown and with families of their own.

I'm a Bama girl. I feel so blessed to have been able to grow up dangling my toes in the warm gulf waters, and to raise my boys where the air is salty, the seafood is delicious, and the people have hearts of gold.
