I've had the privilege of teaching a Head Start multi-age class as well as pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, first, and second grade in a Title 1 school system. I have instructed students for the past 17 years. I have also instructed in an IB PYP kindergarten class. I have always had the privilege to teach ESL/ELL as well as GT students.
I am very much a believer of encouraging student inquiry, & hands-on learning experiences. I feel that students accomplish more when learning is student-centered. I am a proponent of authentic learning as it leads to discovery & problem-solving in an authentic manner. I also challenge my students in a variety of learning modes: independently, partners, cooperative grouping & team challenges so that they can work towards solutions in a variety of capacities. I love incorporating multi-sensory strategies into my lessons including: songs, rhythms, movement, competition & novelty as a vehicle to acquire & retain my student's attention. I am data-driven and encourage my students to set goals as well. I also enjoy embedding digital literacy in my lessons each day. I feel that these skills will also prepare my students for their future endeavors.
Yet to be added
I have a B.S. in Sports Medicine and Associate of Arts in Early Childhood. I am working towards my Master's in Educational Leadership.
I am thankful for the opportunity to be employed in a career that I love. I have a passion for my craft and just like my little learners I think of myself as a "life-long" learner. I feel that I am called to this profession to share my gifts and talents with others. My students ALWAYS INSPIRE me to find new ways to challenge both them and myself. I have an upper elementary aged son whom I adore as well as a fur baby who keeps me on my toes.
