I worked for a full year in my school computer lab while I was finishing up all of my classes before student teaching. In the computer lab, I saw students in grades kindergarten-5th grade. In the lab, I taught the older students about digital citizenship and typing. I taught the younger students basic computer skills to assist them in using technology safely and independently. I completed my student teaching in 4th grade, and was fortunate to get a job in the middle of the school year teaching Pre-K! I am now in my second full year of teaching Pre-K students. We learn ALL.DAY.LONG. Even breakfast, lunch, and bathroom times are social learning experiences for these sweet kiddos.
I am a couple of years in, but I still feel like I am figuring out my teaching style! I do know with certainty that building relationships with my students is my top priority. Don't we work harder when we feel like someone cares? Our kiddos surely feel the exact same way! Even though they are only four and five years old, I work hard earn their respect with consistency and love.
