I teach theatre in Olathe, KS. Previously, I have taught in the elementary classroom, as a 5th grade and 2nd grade teacher. I also have experience as an instructional coach. Prior to teaching, I founded and directed a children's theatre called Madison Avenue Performing Arts in Spring Hill, KS. This recreational theatre company provided dramatic play opportunities for youth ages 5-18 in a rural community. Through this work, I discovered my passion and talent for teaching young people.
I am passionate about inquiry-based learning, differentiation and finding opportunities to continuously gather data - be it through checklists, rubrics, observation or conference. I appreciate a busy classroom with students engaged and interacting with one another, as well as technology, as we all learn together.
In college, I was proud to be on the Dean's Honor Role all 8 semesters I attended FHSU, and remain a proud Tiger! I served on the Spring Hill Education Foundation's scholarship selection committee from 2012-2014. I was Chair of the City of Spring Hill's website committee and the founder and secretary of the Spring Hill Arts Council. In the past, I worked in graphic design and the paper arts industry. My artwork has been published in such magazines as Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion, Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbooks Etc. and Paper Kuts. I have taught scrapbooking and paper crafting classes to thousands of students at Creating Keepsakes Conventions and Creating Keepsakes Universities.
