TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently in my fifth year as an educator. I spent the first two years as a Technology and Media Specialist working with about 11 campuses in our district. I helped navigate teaching through COVID-19 both virtually, hybrid, and in person along with build our online presence with the community. I am now in my third year in the classroom. I have taught Personal Finance, ACT Prep, Digital Media Technology, College and Career Readiness, Computer Science and currently teach US History and Theatre Arts. I coached Cross Country and Track and Field for three years and won a MHSAA Class 3A Girls Track State Championship in 2022. I am now head coach for our Academic Team and Tennis Team. Along with coaching, I enjoy officiating baseball and fast pitch softball. Clubs and academic organizations are also extremely important to me. I am a local advisor for our FBLA chapter and also serve as an Executive Board Member for Mississippi FBLA. I am also the executive director of Senior Sounds - an annual music and talent inspired theatre experience for our high school seniors and community. I have endorsements in Business Management, Social Studies, English Language Arts, Exploring Computer Science, and Career Pathway Digital Media Technology.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I think students need to be engaged in their learning. A quote that I have followed in my professional journey as an educator is from Benjamin Franklin: “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” I think hans-on learning that is both rigorous and relevant is the best way to keep students engaged and learning. However, at the heart of all education is relationships. If you take the time to build a solid relationship that revolves around trust, compassion, and consistency, then, learning will happen effortlessly!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Education has always been an important part of my life. I saw both of my parents put themselves through school when I was in elementary and middle school while raising three kids and working full-time jobs. This inspired me and taught me the importance of having an education. I had so many great teachers in my entire education journey from pre-school to my senior year in college. The passion and dedication to sharpening their craft and pouring knowledge and love into all students set a great example for me to start my professional journey as an educator. Colleges Attended: Northeast Mississippi Community College University of Mississippi - Ole Miss
