For six years, I've been teaching in the secondary classroom, but I've had students of all ages across my table for more than eight. I specialize in literary theory and analysis, composition skills, grammar, and exam preparation in reading and writing. I've also acted as a marker and writer for national examinations. These experiences have helped me format my teaching strategy for struggling students so that they can finally surmount their personal literacy hurdles.
Students value independence, so I find that they tend to learn best through interactive lessons and critical-thinking activities with minimal, but constructive guidance. I incorporate easy to use technology and media with a creative flair to keep students engaged and excited to discover the beauty of literature.

Being from the Caribbean has given me a unique insight into World Literature. While my curriculum encompasses the SAT, ACT, and AP English Literature/English Language & Composition standards, I also have the amazing opportunity to introduce my local and international students to literature from regions they normally wouldn't encounter. A lot of my resources include fiction/nonfiction texts from the Caribbean, postcolonial, and BIPOC experiences. GCSE and CXC teachers will find resources particularly useful for their stringent curricula.
