I have been teaching for a total of 14 years at the 5th and 6th grade levels. A strong interest of mine is integrating reading with science and social studies units. I have served and am currently serving as a Master Mentor within my school district.

I believe that learning materials need to provide differentiation opportunities by level of ability and/or by offering opportunities for students to make choices in their learning. I utilize gradual release of responsibility in my classroom on a daily basis. Encompassing all of that is a definite belief that each and every student has value and important attributes to contribute to the classroom. Learning is something I continue to embrace at every opportunity I get to dig in and discover something new!

I graduated with a BA in Education from Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota. I have been a participant in the Iowa Writing Project.

I am married and have three boys - and a grandchild! I love spending time near a lake, and one of my favorite places to do that is in Bemidji, Minnesota! The most dangerous store I can enter in the mall is a book store...
