In 1990, I began my teaching career in Texas. Since then I've taught 2nd-5th grade in the regular classroom as well as 1st-5th grade gifted and talented students in a pull-out/ enrichment setting. I moved to Michigan in 2003 and currently teach 3rd grade. In the fall of 2017 I will be teaching at the new STEAM school in my district.
I am a creative person so I love finding new and interesting ways to present curriculum. I add humor to my classroom whenever possible, enjoy using technology, and spend time making connections with all of my students.
I was elected as Teacher of the Year in my hometown. I have been a mentor teacher, have chaired numerous committees, was my building's Science and Writing Coordinator, and have been the sponsor for Student Council, Student Lighthouse Team, U.I.L. Team, and for an Elementary Technology Club for kids.
I have a BA degree in Elementary Education with a Reading Specialization, a Masters Degree in the Art of Teaching, and I have a TX certification in the area of Gifted and Talented Education.
