TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This page is a collaborative endeavor between myself and my fellow EOC prep teacher. Between use we each have been teaching since 2014 and 2017. I have a degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English. My counterpart has a degree in literary analysis. I have journalism experience. She has experience in editing and ghost writing. Together we both have experience in Creative Writing. We both have taught test prep classes. I've got experience with blended, SpEd, and ESL classes. She has experience with honors and blended.

MY TEACHING STYLE

We are the teachers that keep students working in groups all year around, with the exception of testing days. We prefer project based learning and providing students with options and choices on what they are going to be learning within the parameters we provide them with. We love utilizing technology with a purpose, not just for the sake of using technology. We prefer finding creative ways of presenting information. All of our PowerPoints on TpT are used a interactive Nearpods where students interact with the PowerPoint instead of simply sitting and taking notes. We prefer to have students think on their own to problem solve and identify potential problems before they occur when completing assignments. We like to play learning games that require cooperation in their small groups, and if at all possible get them up and moving. We like to engage students by having them explore topics vice being lectured about a topic. We believe in the the current data that shows students can only handle so much information at once so we chunk our learning. Our teaching moments will not last longer than half of the students's age in minutes. So a 16 year old class will only have to listen to 8 minutes worth of teaching before they apply what we've just covered. We have created our lessons so that traditional or new age teachers can use the lessons in their classroom, pending their own personal teaching style. Every person is different, every teacher is different, and it is best to do what works best for you and your class's unique needs.
