I started my journey as a social worker in education during my first year of graduate school. I worked in a K-8th in urban education. I fell in love with my role there and pursued this type of work after I graduated. Later, I worked in community programs with clients as young as 2 and as old as 18. I also worked with families providing support and education. I worked with a social service agency for a few years, providing school-based mental health services to Kindergarteners through 6th graders on an individual basis. Finally, I made the move to be a school social worker and haven't looked back! I work in a city elementary school, providing individual mental health support, running groups for students, providing professional development for staff, and supporting our school-wide efforts to continuous make a positive impact.
