TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently a retired 4th grade teacher. I have been in education for 31 years. My experience includes 1st grade, 2nd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade. Most of my classroom experience has been in 2nd and 4th grade. I have spent 5 years of my career as a Reading Specialist (building level) and 6 years as an instructional coach.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I enjoy my kids and really get to know them. I value each of them as an individual with needs and interests of their own. I believe learning is serious business, but if we can have a bit of fun along the way, it is even better! I also believe today's students need to know how to solve problems, access information, and evaluate information. We are preparing today's students them for a world we can not even imagine. Look how far technology has come in just the last few years!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have received the PTA - Outstanding Educator Award twice. Once as an instructional coach and once as a classroom teacher.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Associates Degree in Business from Pierce College, Graduated Cum Laude from Pacific Lutheran University, Masters Degree from Grand Canyon University

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

As an Instructional Coach, I have facilitated a large number of instructional classes for staff at both a district and building level. I have also had many hours of training in assessments, teaching math (University of Washington), teaching reading, and in coaching.
