Sue Kelly

I spent many years in the classroom with my last position being a fourth grade teacher. I left teaching to assist my husband with his land surveying and engineering business after setbacks with his health. I am the daughter of an educator (Dad was superintendent of schools) and my husband was a former math and science teacher at the high school level. I am proud to say that I am also the mother of a first grade teacher and she (Beth Kelly) is the one who introduced me to Teachers Pay Teachers . I do miss teaching but this site allows me to stay involved with education. I had many happy days in the classroom, however, the happiest moments were the years I spent being a stay-at-home mom teaching and guiding my three children who are now fine adults!!

My philosophy of education involves respect, responsibility and structure. My classroom was set up in the traditional rows, etc., however, there was always learning centers set up around the room for reinforcement and group activities. I was a strong believer in discipline. I believe that students work best in a structured environment and there should be consequences for inappropriate behavior and rewards for outstanding actions. Respect, responsibility and structure worked for me!

I am adjusting to my new lifestyle as I recently became a widow. I have 3 incredible adult children and one precious grandson! I love to travel....but there is no place like home, especially in New England!
