TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I currently teach fifth grade :) In my 30+ year career, I have also: taught 2nd through 5th grades, been a school-based literacy coach, served as a state-level instructional coach, attended thousands of hours of professional development (some better than others ;), and read hundreds of books about teaching. I also have a Master's degree, certification to teach K-12 Literacy, National Board certification and have renewed that National Board certification twice.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am all about connecting with kids and getting them engaged in their learning through relevant content and fun activities. Reading aloud is my jam. :)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Meredith College with a double major degree in English and Psychology. I then earned K-6 teaching certification from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I later earned my Master's degree from UNC- Chapel Hill.
