My teaching career started out in special education 16 years ago. Then, I made a change and taught 2nd grade for a few years. Next, I moved overseas and taught English language learners and found my niche. I absolutely loved the dynamics involved in teaching ELL students. I came back to the states and have been teaching elementary ELL learners for the last 12 years.
I love activities that make my students feel successful while having fun. Building their confidence is the key to motivation and success. I like to provide my students with hands on learning to increase their ability to recall concepts. In addition, often I include mini art projects into their writing. I like to bring expressions into my teaching to help students create a vivid picture in their minds.

Bachelors in Elementary and Special Education Masters in Elementary Education with an ELL focus
With teaching ELL students, I have had experience with many different age levels ranging from Pre-K all the way up through adults. My main focus has been with K-4th grade students. Many of my activities can be used not only with ELL students, but with special education students, and struggling readers and writers. I try to create lessons/activities that have a lot of adaptability to them.
