I have been teaching middle school for ten years now and have taught all 6-8th science and I have taught 6th and 7th grade math, and done enrichment classes for 8th grade math.
I have a loud classroom, I feel the more kids are up and out of their seats they are able to understand and the more they will ask questions. The more they ask the more they learn. I am a big data nerd, I like to keep. my classes accountable for their growth on every concept they learn. I like to challenge my students with application based work and I have noticed they ask so many meaningful questions when they are able to be up and moving rather than sitting down!
I have taught everything in the middle school Math and Science expect 8th grade Math, but I did teach enrichment group for that. I have scored Exceeded High growth in 8th Grade Science and 6th Grade Math.
I grew up in a small town, and I love to use real world knowledge designing word problems that would align with STEM and just good common sense. I use a lot of rigor and give my students lots of multistep word problems the relate to former topics taught. I try to bring in as much real life application that I can to empower students to learn more so they can apply it in their adult life.
