I have over 20 years experience working with high need students and their families in a wide range of settings (schools, shelters, community centers, and detention facilities). My focus has been teaching social skills, character development, and civic education through art, history, and culture.
I believe in hands on learning where students are allowed to explore and be creative. I love using activities that pique students interest in whatever topic we may be covering.

When I began kindergarten "open the door" and "yes/no" were the only English words I knew. Thankfully, I had a mother and fabulous teachers, who nurtured my inner nerd and instilled a love of learning. In spite of many naysayers I graduated with a BA in Anthropology with a minor in Sociology in 1996. Since then I have gone on to use my passion for the cultural and literary arts to help create welcoming spaces for folks in the community.
I am the mother of three wild-haired kiddos and the wife of a wonderfully creative husband. I enjoy cooking, gardening, jewelry making, and writing. I am a history, philosophy, and art nerd. A perfect day for me is one where I have the opportunity to read a great book, eat a good meal, and learn something new and my dream is to have the opportunity to travel the world.
