I've been teaching 9-12th grade science at Clarendon High School in Clarendon, Arkansas for four years. I have taught Physical Science, Biology, Environmental Science, Physics, Chemistry, AP Biology, and AP Environmental Science.
My teaching is dynamic. I try to let my students discover knowledge in as many ways possible: direction instruction, jigsaw, demonstrations, virtual simulations, videos, cooperative groups, laboratory assignments, hands-on activities, etc.
I was awarded the Distinguished Teacher Award, based on the TESS evaluation system, three years in a row. I was awarded Clarendon High School Teacher of the Year Award for 2014-2015 and Clarendon School District Teacher of the Year for 2016-2017. I have also won awards for Best Lesson Plans and Best Teaming Effort within my district.
I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Zoology from Auburn University. I received my standard teaching license through the APPEL (Arkansas Professional Pathway to Educator Licensure) program organized by the Arkansas Department of Education, and I am currently earning my Master's Degree in Natural Sciences Education from Colorado State University.
