TEACHING EXPERIENCE

15 years teaching elementary music 6 years teaching music education as adjunct prof at University of Puget Sound over 20 years of teaching individual and group voice lessons

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in the potential of students and in impact that teachers can have when they learn new skills and modify curriculum to best help students. I have had the opportunity to work extensively on my Sing Solfège & Scripture (for private Christian schools and instructors) and Sing Solfège and Spirituals (for schools). I have alway looked for new ways to bring joy through music, especially to students who have various disabilities. Having gone through challenges of my own, I have a new connection and deeper empathy for the ways invisible disabilities impact. I have developed this music curriculum with the goal for music to bring joy and growth in ways that seemed impossible.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

National Board Certification in the area of Music - Early and Middle Childhood, Lakeland Hills “Pat on the Back” Award recognizing teacher achievement, Lakeland Hills Elementary PTA Outstanding Educator Award, Lea Hill Elementary PTA Outstanding Educator Award Participated on various committees: ASD Strategic Planning Committee, Teacher Leaders Academy, Professional Learning Community Improvement Committee
